Customer Care Course for retail, business and service providers

Learn how to meet the needs of blind and partially sighted customers

Customers with sight problems

An estimated 15,000 people in Buckinghamshire have a serious sight loss. At BAB's Resource and Training Centre, your staff can learn to:

  • Increase product interest and sales, by communicating effectively with sight-impaired customers, their family and friends.
  • Avoid making assumptions about customer needs and purchases.
  • Guide or assist customers to make independent choices and decisions.
  • Examine existing work procedures, attitudes and marketing strategies and suggest improvements.
  • Make "reasonable adjustments" as required by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Aims

Designed by a team of specialists and a professional trainer, including people who themselves have vision impairment, this course will:

  • Equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent customer care to people with sight problems.
  • Give a unique insight and understanding of good and bad examples of effective customer communications.
  • Raise awareness.
  • Enable staff to understand the implications of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 on their service to people with visual impairment.

Objectives

At the end of the training day, the participants will be able to:

  • Assist a customer to complete a purchase and deliver the service you provide with confidence.
  • Anticipate the needs of customers and increase sales by improving access to information and premises.
  • Understand some of the common eye conditions and the emotional and practical implications of sight loss.
  • Greet and communicate effectively, guiding safely when requested.
