Philip Roche

BAB member, Philip Roche, who died recently was a well known and admired local figure. A carpenter, he spent 15 months in the Royal Engineers where he lost his sight due to an explosion. Remarkably determined and resilient, Philip reslated his own roof, built a new staircase in his own home and continued with often intricate carpentry work. A strong churchgoer, Philip came from a family who were founder members of St. Joseph’s Parish. He was an example to many.

Maddie Forester

Madeline (Maddie) Forester MBE (on the left) died on 5^th April 2007 and was Chairwoman for BAB's West Division. A larger than life character, Madeline worked tirelessly helping blind and partially sighted people. Full of enthusiasm, a great motivator and 100% committed, Madeline will be greatly missed.
